Dollar Tree Increases Price Cap To $7

“Seven Dollar Tree” doesn’t have a ring to it, but that’s the latest decision by the retailer. Dollar Tree CEO Rick Dreiling announced on the company’s earnings call that it plans to diversify the product range at its locations, and is also raising the highest price point at its stores from the current $5 to $7 per item. Dollar Tree announced that it would be closing 1,000 Family Dollar locations due to theft and financial losses, and the company’s fourth-quarter report for last year showed a net loss of $1.71-billion.
