There's a new delicacy in Vietnam that's becoming VERY popular. It's "free range rats". No, we're not kidding! They say, the happy rural rats of Cambodia's rice fields enjoy a largely organic diet and are just so much better for you! The Cambodians don't eat the rats themselves, so they're exporting tens of thousands of the rats to Vietnam. They sell for about $1.25 a pound. This is what one of the farmers said, "People come from far and wide to buy. They like the big fat ones." You can get the meat grilled, fried, boiled for soup. So, what does it taste like? They say it tastes like pork. One farmer added, "Rat liver and thigh are the most delicious." At least one trader exports as many as two tons to Vietnam each morning during the peak season.
