A father of two nearly died of sepsis after biting his fingernail. Luke Hanoman says he’d bit the side of his fingernail and soon, started feeling flu-like symptoms. He battled through fever, cold sweats, and tremors for a week while the virus spread through his bloodstream. Then his finger began to throb. One day, after sleeping in too long, his mother came to check on him. She immediately called emergency officials and Luke was soon in the hospital. Ultimately, he spent four days in the hospital where doctors treated him with antibiotics and is now doing just fine.
