Man Caught Attempting to Smuggle Dozens of Tarantulas in Luggage

Of all the things to pack inside your suitcase, dozens of tarantulas are probably last on your list, but that didn't stop a Polish man from doing it. He was arrested at the Cayenne-Félix Eboué Airport in French Guiana last month after attempting to smuggle dozens of tarantulas through airport security. In total, the man was in possession of nearly 100 spiders, including 38 adult spiders, some 50 adolescent spiders, and dozens of egg-filled cocoons, when he was stopped by airport security. He told authorities he's "passionate about insects," while he was getting arrested. While it's not technically forbidden to transport live tarantulas, it is heavily regulated.
