Gun Entered As Evidence Falls And Kills The Prosecutor In Court

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time, a South African lawyer was shot and killed by a falling gun in court on Monday in what has been described as a “freak accident.”

Adelaide Ferreira Watt was in Ixopo regional court when a loaded gun on display fell and accidentally fired a shot. The weapon was allegedly in court to be used as evidence in a home robbery case.

Ms. Watt was struck in the left hip and was taken to the hospital, where she died Monday afternoon.

Police are investigating the incident as a case of culpable homicide.
