New “Walking Sharks” Found Strolling Off Coast Of Australia

Scientists have discovered four new species of “walking sharks” that can use their fins to crawl about in search of prey, according to a new study published by Conservation International. In shallow reefs between Papua New Guinea and Australia, the strolling sharks were discovered during a 12-year group study on global conservation by Conservation International. The good news is, they say the 3.3-foot “walking sharks” don’t pose a threat to people. Instead, their “ability to withstand low-oxygen environments and walk on their fins gives them a remarkable edge over their prey of small crustaceans and molluscs.”
