In case you some how missed it, the giant panda at the Smithsonian National Zoo is a new mom. Mei Xiang has given birth to a cub that zoo keepers describe as being the size of "a stick of butter.” She will be left to nurse her new baby for the next few weeks and then keepers will find out if it's a boy or girl when they do a physical exam. In great news already? Zoo officials say the cub has been making "strong vocalizations" and resting on its mama’s chest, indicating she's been nursing and is doing well. The mom and newborn can be seen on the zoo's 24-hour "pandacam,” which you can see HERE.
