Trex Announces Plans For New Global Headquarters, Hiring Efforts

WINCHESTER, VA., June 11, 2021Trex Company, the world’s #1 brand of wood-alternative decking and railing, and leader in high-performance, low-maintenance outdoor living products, has announced that it will move its corporate offices to a new location. Today, the company closed on the purchase of eight acres in Winchester, Va., where it plans to build a new 64,000-square-foot office facility that will serve as the manufacturer’s global headquarters.

“This move is a direct result of Trex’s growth over the years but also signifies our anticipated growth for the future,” said Bryan Fairbanks, president and CEO of Trex Company. “We have found an ideal location closer to our manufacturing facilities with space that will allow us to continue to support that growth. Best of all, we are pleased to be re-committing and re-investing in the community that Trex has called home for the past 25+ years.”

Trex’s new home will be built alongside Crossover Boulevard and Interstate 81. Construction is expected to begin in late 2021 with anticipated move-in slated for 2023. The new state-of-the-art office facility will house approximately 200 corporate employees and will encompass eco-friendly elements that reflect the company’s environmental legacy and commitment to sustainability.

Between its new corporate headquarters and the recently completed 200,000-square-foot decking production facility situated adjacent to the company’s Shawnee Drive campus, Trex expects to bring more than 350 new jobs to the Winchester and Frederick County area.

The company is currently hiring for positions across departments including engineering, information technology, marketing, operations, R&D/product development, sales, supply chain, production operators and supervisors. Trex offers competitive pay, benefits and training, including fast-track training and opportunities for quick advancement for experienced line technicians. Free transportation for Trex employees commuting from portions of the eastern panhandle of West Virginia to the primary production facility in Frederick County will begin later this month via the new Trex Transit program, which will run twice-daily shuttles making 11 stops between Keyser, WV, and the manufacturing plant.

“Trex is in an unmatched position to lead the industry in production and to meet the growing demands of our customers in the coming years,” noted Fairbanks. “As Trex continues to grow, we not only need more physical space, but we also need more hands on deck to help us tap the tremendous potential that we see for our products, brand and company.”

Since 1996, Trex has invented, reinvented and defined the composite decking category. Founded on the premise that ingenuity can help extract value from what was once seen as waste, the entire high-performance Trex decking portfolio is made from a minimum of 95% recycled materials, including reclaimed wood and recycled plastic film from commercial packaging and common household items, such as case overwraps, sandwich bags, newspaper sleeves and grocery bags. Each year, Trex saves more than 850 million pounds of wood scrap and plastic waste from ending up in landfills, and is one of the largest recyclers of polyethylene plastic film in North America.

Recently named one of the nation’s100 fastest-growing companies by Fortune magazine, Trex opened its first production lines in Virginia with 36 employees – 12 of whom still work for the company. Over the past two-and-a-half decades, the company has transformed into an $800+ million revenue manufacturer with more than 1,500 employees, industry-leading brand recognition and unsurpassed channel placement in more than 6,700 retail outlets across 40+ countries worldwide. Proudly made in the U.S.A., Trex commands the largest share of the composite decking market in North America, and leads the industry on a global scale with an extensive outdoor living portfolio that includes everything from decking and railing to deck drainage, LED lighting, outdoor kitchen components, pergolas, fire and water features, spiral stairs, fencing, lattice and outdoor furniture.
