Police and firefighters in Maine worked together to free a dog from a plastic drain pipe that was blocked with ice. Last Sunday, Fable, a young Golden Retriever, attempted to take a shortcut in her yard through a culvert pipe. She managed to work her way into the pipe, but once inside, discovered the other end was frozen shut.
Falmouth Police and firefighters responded to Fable’s owner’s call for help to free the pup. The rescuers worked for more than an hour to free Fable, according to a Facebook post by Falmouth Fire-EMS.
Fable was uninjured from the ordeal and in a picture posted to Falmouth Fire-EMS’s Facebook page is seen showing her appreciation to her rescuers with some kisses. Her owner says even though she was a “wreck,” she was pleased with all the attention she got.
