A former publishing company worker in Japan says he’s found his dream job…he gets paid to do “nothing.” What Shoji Morimoto does is rent himself out to be there for lonely people, and he says he was once paid just to wave goodbye to one traveler. The 38-year-old says he charges clients about $71 to “be there” for them.
How’s business? He says he’s had around 4,000 bookings over the last four years and made enough money to support his wife and child. The fee he charges people is his only income, but before the pandemic, he was making close to $300 per day.
