Study: Poor Sleep Can Make You Go Blind

You may be waking up more bleary-eyed than you think. A new study published in the journal BMJ Open found that poor sleep patterns can increase the risk of glaucoma, which can lead to complete blindness if not treated early. The condition is the leading cause of blindness.

The study involved over 400k people from a large-scale biomedical database who were between 40 and 69 during the study period of 2006 to 2010. The study found that those sleeping too much or too little, having insomnia, snoring, and experiencing tiredness during the day are 10% more likely to have glaucoma.
