Almost Half Of Americans Miss In-Store Black Friday Chaos

The pandemic has dampened the craziness of Black Friday for the past two years, and for some that was a good thing. But apparently others missed it because a lot of people are looking forward to heading to the stores right after Thanksgiving.

A new poll finds:

  • 95% of Americans plan to take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year.
  • Of those people, 43% of Americans admit they miss the chaos that comes with shopping in person on Black Friday.
  • 63% of people look at Black Friday shopping as a tradition.
  • And 42% say shopping in-store on Black Friday is more important now that it was pre-pandemic.

Of course, there are a lot of benefits to doing your holiday shopping online.

  • 46% say the best part is not having to wait in line.
  • 31% say it’s better because you don’t have to stay up all night to get deals.
  • And those who do like to shop in store admit there are things that may keep them from doing so like:
    • Weather conditions and long lines (34%)
    • Finding better deals online (34%)
    • Safety concerns (33%)
  • As for what folks are spending, 31% expect to spend more this year due to inflation.
  • Overall, the average Black Friday shopper expects to spend $557 this year, up from $441 three years ago.
