Adam Sandler To Receive Mark Twain Prize

Veteran actor/comedian Adam Sandler is receiving a huge honor recognizing his long, successful career. The “Billy Madison” star is joining the likes of Whoopi GoldbergGeorge Carlin and Richard Pryor as a recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

Handed out by the John F. Kennedy Center, Sandler will also be celebrated at a gala on March 19th. As Deborah F. Rutter, President of the Kennedy Center, puts it: "Adam has created characters that have made us laugh, cry, and cry from laughing."

And while critics haven’t always been nice to the “Happy Gilmore” funny-man, NPR points out that Sandler landed his own shots at them and NBC (who fired him from “SNL”). When he returned to host the sketch show in 2019, he sang a little song: “NBC said that I was done, then I made $4-billion at the box office. So I guess you could say I won.”
