We told you a few days ago that Miranda Lambert stopped down a recent performance to call out some women taking selfies during her show. Now, one of those women is telling her side of the story.
Adela Calin said the country singer stopped midway through her performance of "Tin Man" after spotting her and five of her friends posing for a photo. "It was 30 seconds at most," Calin, a social media influencer from Las Vegas, said in a phone interview. "We took the picture quickly and were going to sit back down." Lambert wasn't having it, saying from the stage, "I’m gonna stop right here for a sec. These girls are worried about a selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pi**ing me off a little bit." The video clip went viral (of course), with the Internet divided on whether Miranda was in the right - or whether she was being rude to fans.
Miranda herself has not acknowledged the incident, but Calin said, "It felt like I was back at school with the teacher scolding me for doing something wrong and telling me to sit down back in my place. I feel like she was determined to make us look like we were young, immature and vain. But we were just grown women in our 30s to 60s trying to take a picture."
- In other news connected to the incident, Whoopi Goldberg sided with Miranda when the topic was brought up on "The View" yesterday. "If they paid money for the tickets, they came to see her," Goldberg said, adding that people should have "at least a little respect" while the artist is singing. Whoopi then claimed she'd had enough of her co-hosts defending the selfie-takers, leaving the stage. "I'm leaving y'all. Because I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman who is 91." The audience member beamed up at Goldberg as she crouched behind the chair and put her arm over the woman's shoulder. See the clip below.
