Elkton, Virginia, octogenarian Bill Kingrea is setting off on a 107-mile hike along the Appalachian Trail from Waynesboro to Front Royal to celebrate his 88th birthday and raise money for the Harrisonburg-based nonprofit, Hope Distributed. Kingrea’s “Hike For Hope” combines two of his passions, volunteering and the outdoors. He aims to complete the journey by his birthday on October 17th and will have different friends joining him along the trail. The fundraiser will benefit struggling individuals and families in need of food, clothing, furniture, and baby necessities.
