FDA Warns About Using Tom’s of Maine Toothpaste

The Food and Drug Administration is accusing Tom's of Maine of using contaminated water to manufacture toothpaste and clean equipment. The FDA sent a letter to Colgate-Palmolive, which is the parent company of Tom's, claiming Tom's had been aware of potentially dangerous bacteria in water samples that were taken between 2021 and 2022. The FDA also says the company's water system is inadequate. In a statement, Tom's of Maine said it's working to fix these issues. The FDA is calling for a "thorough review of all microbiological hazards.”

How You Can Help Those In Need This Thanksgiving: Over 47 million people in the U.S. face hunger, according to Feeding America. That includes 1-in-5 children, and last year, 53 million people relied on charitable food assistance to stay fed. There are plenty of ways that you can help those in need have a better holiday. Here are a few:

  • Donate food for Thanksgiving at your local food bank or charities asking for donations
  • Donate non-perishable food unless asked to do otherwise
  • Host a virtual food drive
  • Adopt a family through an organization
