Google’s Year In Search 2024 report has just come out, giving us a snapshot of the things that interested and inspired people around the world this year. The search engine breaks the results down by country and category and here in the United States, the U.S. presidential election tops the list as the most-searched term.
- The top five most-searched people in the U.S. were Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, JD Vance, Joe Biden and Catherine, Princess of Wales.
- The actors most-searched for in the U.S. this year were Katt Williams, Jacob Elordi, Glen Powell, Jeremy Allen White and Shane Gillis.
- Usher was the most-searched musician of 2024 in the U.S., followed by Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kendrick Lamar, Drake and Justin Timberlake.
- In movies, “Inside Out 2,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and “It Ends with Us,” were the three most searched in the U.S.
- The three most searched performances in the U.S. were Olympian Raygun’s full performance, Ryan Gosling Oscars and Toby Keith’s last performance.
- People searched plenty of weird things, too, and one of the most popular of 2024 was the “burnt toast theory.”
- For parents, “Why do kids say sigma?” was a top search as they try to decode Gen Alpha slang.
