Over 200 million eggs are being recalled over salmonella fears.
Indiana-based Rose Acre Farms issued a recall on the eggs in connection to 22 cases of salmonella reported on the East Coast. The FDA says the eggs were distributed to consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.
The eggs, produced by Rose Acre Farms’ Hyde County farm, are sold under brands including Coburn Farms, Country Daybreak, Food Lion, Glenview, Great Value, Nelms and Sunshine Farms. Walmart stores and Waffle House are two of the companies affected. The eggs were sold to restaurants too.
Salmonella is a bacterial infection that can be life-threatening if it spreads beyond the intestines. The FDA says the farm, which distributed the contaminated eggs, produces 2.3-million eggs a day.
