USA's Linden Wins Wet, Windy Boston Marathon

Desiree Linden splashed her way to a Boston Marathon win Monday, making her the first American woman to win the race since 1985. The two-time Olympian finished in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 39 minutes, 54 seconds. A field of 30,000 runners fought drenching rain, heavy wind and icy temperatures on the 26.2-mile trek through Boston. A thin crowd of fans greeted Linden with chants of “U-S-A!

For the 1st time since 1985, an American woman has won the Boston Marathon, finishing through icy rain and wind gusts over 30 mph.:
