How would you feel if your discount airline couldn’t deal with a snowstorm coming at the end of their flying season and told you to find your own way out of Mexico? Well this really happened!
Sun Country Airlines’ “season” ended with the weekend snowstorm in the U.S. Northern tier. They canceled a flight each from Los Cabos and Mazatlan to Minneapolis-St. Paul on Saturday and couldn't rebook those passengers because there were no available flights scheduled until June.
That’s when they emailed their passengers, already in Mexico enjoying a vacation, that said “You will receive a full refund. Flights will need to be purchased on another carrier.” Passengers were shocked and mad. For many, it cost a high amount to fly back home.
What was Sun Country’s reasoning for dumping paying passengers? They didn’t want to “disrupt” their last scheduled flights.
We’re guessing this is just the beginning of the story!
