Homeowners Threatened With $50k Fine For Extravagant Light Display

One couple, Tom and Kris Apruzzi, have a 15 year old tradition where they put up over 300,000 lights creating a spectacular holiday display for neighbors. The light show now might cost them $50,000.

The New Jersey couple said that city officials are charging them a fine in order for their 15-year tradition to continue.  Kris told a local news outlet "We had a meeting with the Mayor and the Chief of Police the other night and they blatantly told us that this is what you will pay in order to put this Christmas light display on this year."

The fine allegedly would go toward police security and bus transportation to keep the traffic through the neighborhood to a minimum. They are trying to crowdfund to help cover the cost and planning to start the light show on Dec 1st.
