Netflix Has Lost Another Show To New HBO Max Streaming Service

Netflix is losing another top show to a competing subscription service.

Reruns of "Friends" will be leaving Netflix and joining the new Warner Media service called HBO Max. This is the second former NBC series to leave Netflix in the past month. "The Office" will also be leaving starting in 2021.

WarnerMedia paid 85 million per year in a five year deal to put “Friends” on its new service, which is scheduled to debut in the spring of 2020. In addition to HBO programming, the service will air content from New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. There will also be original content, including a show with Kaley Cuoco.
