An Ohio doctor is accused of ordering drug overdoses in the deaths of 25 hospital patients he was caring for. However, the good doctor is now suing his former employer for defamation.
Dr. William Husel, who is accused of murder, filed the lawsuit claiming that he did nothing wrong and simply followed the hospital policy on end-of-life care.
“It would not be an exaggeration to state that Dr. Husel has suffered perhaps the most egregious case of defamation in Ohio’s recent history,” according to the lawsuit.
Dr. Husel has a few supporters as well. A pharmacist and nine hospital nurses have also sued the hospital system this month, claiming the doctor did nothing wrong. Their lawsuit said hospital executives were unaware of appropriate standards of care for patients at the end of their lives.
The docs lawsuit seeks more than $50,000 in damages, along with attorney fees.
