Birds Take Over Couple’s Home While They’re On A Trip

Hundreds of unwelcome guests take over a couples home in California.

Gary and Patty Reitemeyer of Redding were called to come back home by a neighbor over the unusual invaders.

They got home to find hundreds of black swallows had snuck into their house through the chimney. After trying to clear the birds themselves, the couple hired ServePro to clear the swallows out and unfortunately had to throw out their furniture, carpets, and blinds due to bird poop.

They told KRCR-TV it's the first time anything like this has happened in their three decades of living at the home. Homeowners insurance won’t cover the $20,000 in damages since “act of bird” is excluded in their policy.

The couple will be staying with their daughter until the home is fixed up and de-pooped.
