A teenage girl in Arizona is dealing with something that’s almost impossible to imagine . . . she’s allergic to water.  Abigail Beck has been diagnosed with aquagenic urticaria, a condition that causes itchy hives upon contact with water. There are only around 100 cases of the condition on record, and the 15-year-old says it’s a severe problem.

Abigail can’t shower without erupting into hives all over her body, a drink of water causes her to vomit, and she says her tears feel like acid when she cries. Sweating hurts and could leave her dehydrated, and she can’t go outside in the rain. Doctors are considering an IV for her to get more fluids as a “permanent treatment.”
