World’s Biggest Cruise Ship Sent To Scrapyard Before Ever Setting Sail

The 9k passenger, 20-deck Global Dream II cruise ship was designed with an outdoor water park and a cinema on board, but no one will ever use them. The company that built the ship, MV Wefrten, filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of this year. To settle their debts, the company is selling the engines and parts and selling the lower hull for scrap metal price.

Its sister ship, the first Global Dream, is up for sale but not set to be scrapped yet. The two ships would have been the largest cruise ships in the world by passenger capacity. The current holder of that title is the Wonder of the Seas, which can hold just under 7k passengers.
