Death Row Inmate Asks For Execution Delay To Donate Kidney

(Austin, TX) -- A Texas death row inmate is asking for a delay in his execution so he can donate a kidney. Ramiro Gonzalez is scheduled to die by lethal injection on June 13th. His attorneys said a University of Texas transplant team found the 39-year-old Gonzalez to an "excellent candidate" for donation because of his rare blood type. They're asking that his execution be delayed for a month. Gonzalez was convicted of sexually assaulting and shooting 18-year-old Bridget Townsend when he was 18.
