TikTok user @LawyerWynton has pointed out an Airbnb listing for an 1830s slave cabin as a luxury stay, slamming it as “mocking” the history of slavery. The Panther Burn Cottage at Belmont Plantation in Greenville, Mississippi, was a slave cabin in the 1830s, then a sharecropper cabin, and a medical office for local farmers.
The civil rights attorney also points out that the property has rave reviews on Airbnb, with guests describing their stay as “historic but elegant” and “memorable.” His take? “How is this okay in somebody’s mind to rent this out? A place where human beings were kept as slaves.”
