When the auction for the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card ended, a record was shattered. Heritage Auctions says the piece was the “finest known example” of the card, which was graded as a 9.5 by SGC. At auction’s close, the card’s final sale price was $12.6-million, including buyer’s premium (seller’s fee). The previous record for the sale of a sports card was $7.25-million for a T-206 Honus Wagner card earlier in the month.
