Street-Legal Ford GT Hits Record 310.8 MPH

This might help the argument from some that ‘they don’t make ’em like they used to.’ A custom 2006 Ford GT supercar has set a new speed record for street-legal cars, reaching 310.8 mph on a retired landing strip at Kennedy Space Center.

The car had previously set a standing-mile record at 282.232 mph ten years ago but has been updated since then. Amazingly, despite its twin-turbocharged V8 engine, owner Johnny Bohmer uses it as a daily driver.
