Americans are largely pessimistic about U.S. prospects in 2023. That's according to new data from Gallup which shows Americans predict negative conditions in most economic, political, societal, and international arenas. Around eight in ten Americans see 2023 as a year of economic difficulty and higher taxes, while six in ten foresee rising prices and a bad stock market. Political conflict, rising crime rates, and labor strikes were also part of the grim outlook for the new year. One silver lining is a majority of respondents said Russia's influence would decrease as the war in Ukraine drags on.
