This Is Why Krispy Kreme Is Leaving Your Grocery Store’s Snack Aisle

Krispy Kreme is an ever-expanding company that sold a record-breaking 1.63 billion donuts in 2022. In addition, they have been diversifying its products over the past few years since being acquired by JAB Holding Company in 2016. They took over Insomnia Cookies in 2018, signed up with DoorDash delivery in 2020, and began offering Krispy Kreme Doughnut Bites and Krispy Kreme Mini Crullers on grocery store shelf aisles that same year. The cookies and delivery streams have been successful but the snacks on shelves have not. As a result, they have decided to end their grocery store snack experiment with production to cease this May.

A company announcement said “Our fresh doughnut business is strong, profitable, and growing quickly. This is an area where we are focusing our investments and resources” and “because of this we chose to exit our underperforming, extended shelf-life snack aisle business.” That means you won’t be able to buy these products at your local grocery anymore, but there may be some good news – they continue to focus on fresh doughnuts exclusively. In addition to their own stores, you can get fresh doughnuts at numerous Walmart stores in Long Island, NY and it’s possible they could expand this program to stores near you so keep an eye out!
