The Super Bowl Ran On 100% Solar Power

Super Bowl LVIII (58) marked an important advancement in renewable energy being used for major sporting events by being powered entirely by solar energy. The event, hosted at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, was supported by 621-thousand solar panels, a result of a 25-year power purchase agreement with NV Energy. This setup not only powered the stadium but also has the capacity to supply electricity to 60-thousand homes outside of game days. The initiative, which benefits from the area’s 300 sunny days a year, is part of a broader sustainability effort at the stadium, which includes recycling, food scrap collection for livestock feed, composting, and the use of energy-efficient systems.
