In the era of social media, everything seems to need a new name or be labeled a “trend.” With that, we now give you “The Hurkle Derkle.” To be fair, this seems to be exactly what was previously labeled as the trend of “bed rotting,” where people lay around in bed for hours rather than getting up and doing something productive with their day. “Hurkle-derkle” is a term in Scotland that describes “lying in bed when you should be up and about.” Since it sounds all fun, cute, and catchy, the term has since expanded outside of Scotland and could eventually be making its presence known on a TikTok feed near you…maybe even while you yourself are hurkling and derkling.
