When was the last time you felt “true comfort?” New research uncovers how Americans find true comfort - which is defined as “feeling completely relaxed or at ease,” and it turns out, it’s not easy to come by.
According to the poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults:
- Only a fifth (21%) have experienced true comfort in the last 24 hours.
- In fact, the average person only feels comfortable for a third of the day, around eight hours.
- Finding true comfort during the cold temperatures and gray skies of winter can be even more challenging, but the top way people do it is by taking a nap (47%)
- Going for a walk outside is a close second (41%), followed by having a spa day (36%).
- When it’s freezing outside, respondents also find true comfort in taking a hot bath (34%) and creating the perfect temperature - 72-degrees - at home (25%).
- Getting plenty of sleep can also be comforting, but actually nodding off can be challenging, which is why 86% say they use a sleep or relaxation trick to help them snooze.
- Nearly half of them (46%) still count sheep to help them fall asleep.
- Having the right bedding can help, too, as 50% of those surveyed use fresh sheets or pillowcases to help drift off and 43% must have their favorite pillow to fall asleep.
- Blankets matter, too, especially to the 54% who need to be partially or fully covered to sleep.
