Having the kids out of school for the summer can be great, right up until their fighting with their siblings or complaints about being bored drive you crazy. Parents try to find fun ways to fill the long, hot days, but entertaining them can be really expensive. But now you can cool off and keep the peace by taking the kids to the movies without breaking the bank.
Movie theaters across the country are running specials this summer for family movie days. They’re budget-friendly, where kiddos and their caregivers can see popular children’s movies for less than $5 a ticket. The programs include:
Regal's Summer Movie Express - This program runs through August 7th and offers select movies at 11 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at participating theaters for $1 a ticket plus tax. Their lineup for the rest of the summer is:
- July 16th - 17th: "Clifford the Big Red Dog" and "Sonic the Hedgehog"
- July 23rd - 24th: "Trolls Band Together" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 2"
- July 30th - 31st: "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" and "Kung Fu Panda 3"
- August 6th - 7th: "Minions: The Rise of Gru" and "Sing 2"
Cinemark's Summer Movie Clubhouse - The theater chain’s program offers discounts on family movies through August 15th at participating theaters on select days and tickets are just $1.75 plus tax. This is schedule for the rest of the summer:
- July 11th: "The Lego Movie"
- July 15th - 18th: "Trolls Band Together"
- July 22nd - 25th: "How to Train Your Dragon"
- July 29th - August 1st: "Migration"
- August 5th - 8th: "Hotel Transylvania"
- August 12th - 15th: "Paddington 2"
AMC Theatres' Summer Movie Camp - With this program you can get $3 plus tax tickets for select kids’ movies through August 14th on Mondays and Wednesdays. Here’s what they’re showing for the rest of the summer:
- July 15th - 17th: "Sing 2"
- July 22nd - 24th: "The Secret Life of Pets"
- July 29th - July 31st: "Migration"
- August 5th -August 7th: "Despicable Me 2"
- August 12th - August 14th: "Despicable Me 3"
