States That Get The Most Speeding Tickets

Even though we know we shouldn’t do it, most of us have thought about flooring it when we’re running late on the way to work or to pick the kids up from school. But it turns out, drivers in some states are more likely to speed, or at least to get caught doing it. And a new report reveals which ones those are.

  • Insurify has come out with a list of the states where drivers receive the most speeding tickets.
  • The insurance shopping site analyzed data from its database of more than 97-million insurance quotes to figure out which states’ drivers get the most tickets for speeding.
  • North Dakota tops the list, 8.7% of the state's drivers have gotten a speeding ticket.
  • That’s more than double the national average of 4.1%.
  • Researchers point out that North Dakota’s low speeding ticket fines, which can be as little as $15, may be the reason the state has the most.
  • But those speeding tickets can cost you when it comes to car insurance. The average American pays $212 a month for full-coverage, but that goes up to $297 a month for drivers with speeding tickets.
