Paris is still the City of Love, but it’s no longer the most romantic travel destination in the world. According to a new survey, Maui, Hawaii, has edged out the French capital to take over that title.
The poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults also finds:
- While a lot of folks want to visit these popular destinations, 69% of respondents think hidden or smaller destinations are more romantic.
- Almost half of those surveyed say lesser-known destinations are better for setting the mood for intimacy (45%) and bonding with a partner (45%).
- Regardless of where they are, people say they’re about 62% more romantic on vacation than in their everyday life.
- For 76%, traveling with a partner is a serious step in a relationship and 71% say it’s one of the most romantic things you can do together.
- On average, people think you should be with a partner for about a year before taking a trip together, but 42% would be up for traveling as a couple sooner.
- Lovebirds’ favorite things to do when traveling with a partner include going for walks on the beach (55%), watching sunsets together (54%) or holding hands (53%).
- If you really want to impress your significant other, a spur of the moment getaway could do the trick, as 72% of respondents say spontaneous trips with a partner are sexy.
- But couples aren’t the only ones thinking about romance during a trip, half of single respondents say one of the best parts of traveling is the potential to find love.
- Overall, 22% say cuffing season - October to mid-February - is the best time to travel to find or maintain a relationship.
