Starbucks Is Switching Cups & Some Iced Coffee Fans Won’t Be Happy

Starbucks is stirring things up with a big cup change, and not everyone is thrilled. In 14 states, the coffee giant is replacing its clear plastic cold drink cups with fiber-based compostable ones as part of its sustainability push. While better for the planet, some customers are fuming over the lids, saying they’re tough to drink from and even make cold foam a struggle. Others are mourning the loss of Instagram-worthy layered drinks, but for those who really can’t stand the switch, Starbucks still allows reusable cups — and even offers free refills for customers who stay at the coffee shop.
