Burger King Rolling Out AI Chatbot For Workers

Burger King is rolling out an AI chatbot, named “Patty,” powered by an OpenAI base model. Patty will help employees through a new platform, BK Assistant. The tool will live in the workers’ headsets and try to track keywords related to friendliness, as well as try to provide support by flagging sold out items and recalling limited-time ingredients. While it will listen to drive-thru interactions, the company says it’s not about “scoring” workers or scripting conversations. Chief digital officer Thibault Roux tells NBC News that Patty is “really a coaching tool” designed to help employees “become more hospitable” and address operational issues. The system is being tested in 500 restaurants.
