Blueberry juice can improve brain function

Juicing may be a big craze to keep folks’ bodies healthy, but apparently it can also go a long way towards improving your brain function, as long as you’re drinking the right fruit.  A new study out of University of Exeter in England shows that concentrated blueberry juice, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, has been proven to boost cognitive functions - the skills your brain uses to think, read, learn, remember, reason, and pay attention.

The study looked at a group of healthy 65 to 77-year-olds over a 12-week period and those who added blueberry juice to their daily diet showed several improvements in brain function.  They exhibited improved blood flow to the brain, brain activation when carrying out cognitive tests, and better working memory.

While this study specifically focused on older adults, there’s no reason to believe that younger adults couldn’t get the same benefits from a little blueberry juice.  So maybe instead of drinking that gross kale smoothie, add some blueberries into your next drink.
