Indian Trail Tree Discovered Along Chattahoochee River

Next time you go hiking, keep an eye out for strangely-shaped trees. They're unique because they are bent in unnatural angles. 

These trees are actually Native American trail markers.  Native Americans would bend trees in order to create trail markers.  They acted as signs that food & water were nearby.  Or as a warning for rough country ahead.  This was very important for navigating.
