There is an incredible bond that is formed between women when they become mothers. Without meaning for it to be this way, a secret club of understanding and connection is created. It is so strong that not even the challenge of distance can break its love.
This is exactly what happened for one grandmother in Richmond, Virginia, who works as a nurse at the Henrico Doctor’s Hospital. When her son fell on hard times, Sara Putnam stepped in and was very quickly granted full custody over her first grandchild, a baby girl.
Unfortunately, transitioning into life with a brand new baby so quickly did not give her much time to prepare. This meant that she was completely without any clothes or necessary baby gear for making her precious granddaughter comfortable.
So one night she decided to rummage through a box of donated baby clothes in the breakroom at work. That is when Pam Medina, a fellow nurse at the hospital, walked in and found Sara going through the clothes.
After hearing the story of how Sara had suddenly become the guardian to her grandbaby, Pam decided to go home and pool resources with fellow mothers via Facebook.
Pam put out her pleas for help through posts on yard sale and mom’s classified group pages and the response that she received was incredible!
She then drove all over Henrico, Richmond, and Chesterfield, picking up an enormous supply of clothes, strollers, bottles, and other miscellaneous items.
Within a few days Pam had gathered all of the donated items and drove to work with a trunk filled to the brim. But when Sara walked out to the car she had no idea that she was about to be given this amazing and incredible surprise
