In 2001, Elizabeth Stringer Keefe was in New York City when she found a wedding photo on the ground. .
She was a college professor and took the picture from the destruction of 9/11. The people in the photo had no idea they were now part of a mystery that would take over ten years to solve.
Elizabeth spent many years trying to find someone tied to the photograph. They could've been alive or dead for all she knew.
Each anniversary of 9/11, she would go to social media asking for any information about the photo or the people in it. She usually came up empty-handed.
But then, in September 2014, Elizabeth received a message online from Fred Mahe. He said he was the man in the photo staring directly at the camera.
