Woman Faces Life In Prison Following Drunken First Date

A woman from Texas is facing life behind bars after she went on a drunken rampage during a date with a prominent Houston attorney. According to Fox News Lindy Lou Layman faces charges of felony criminal mischief after she got drunk and allegedly "shattered two $20,000 sculptures and poured wine on paintings, including two Warhol works" while on a first date with prominent attorney Tony Buzbee. The total cost of damages is estimated at $300,000.

How could wrecking a few paintings and sculptures land somebody in prison for life? The Houston Chronicle reports that "the level of the charge is determined by the value of the objects in question. In this case, Layman is accused of the maximum, a first degree felony," which carries a sentence of life behind bars.

Layman was released on $30,000 bail and is prohibited from seeing Buzbee and from using drugs and alcohol. Her attorney, Justin Keiter, said they "disagree with Mr. Buzbee's rendition of the facts." He added that she is a "great person" who has been "weathering the storm of the intense media scrutiny " around the case, mainly due to Buzbee's high profile.

Tony Buzbee is a high power attorney, who is known for representing former Texas governor Rick Perry against abuse of power charges in 2014.
