Single Mom Of 3 Adopts Injured Dog She Carried Down A Mountain

Tia Vargas was hiking down from the peak of Table Rock Trail in Idaho’s Grand Tetons when she came across a dog limping to keep up with a group of hikers who were searching for its owner.  They were headed up to the top of the mountain so the single mom of three decided to make it her mission to get the injured English springer spaniel down.  But she soon realized that the dog, who had a tag saying his name is Boomer, was hurt so badly he couldn’t make the six-mile trek on his own.

So Tia picked Boomer up and popped him over her shoulders and kept going.  It wasn’t easy carrying that 55-pound pooch down the mountain, but her dad kept her laughing and encouraged her along the way.  It rained, they got lost twice, and Boomer was heavy, but they made it down . . . six long hours later.

At the bottom of the mountain, Tia found a note from Boomer’s owners and when she contacted them, they were so thrilled he was alive and so touched by her kindness, they offered to let her adopt the dog she bonded with.  “Boomer is part of our family now,” the mom says.  “I feel like there’s a reason why I was on the mountain at the very moment that he needed somebody to help.  Both of us had a guardian angel that day.”
