Get Back To The Basics With Kids Holiday Toys

That’s the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics when it comes to toys. Their new report focuses on the best toys for development from birth through school age. While new tech toys have been touted as great for children to advance in development, the academy says they should only be used as aids and not replace good old fashioned toys.

Here’s what type of toys to get your kids for Christmas.

  • Toy characters and objects. Dolls, stuffed animals, and transportation toys work wonders for the imagination.
  • Blocks, shapes, puzzles, and trains. Tots will learn problem solving skills.
  • Card and board games, books, and toy letters. These build language skills.
  • Push and pull toys like balls and tricycles. Physical play is incorporated and motor skills are developed.
  • Coloring books, crayons and markers, and pads of paper. This builds creativity and fine motor skills.
