Reba McEntire was on hand to pay her respects to the late President George H. W. Bush at his funeral in Houston, Texas yesterday. The singer sang “The Lord’s Prayer” at the funeral, which had the President’s son, President George W. Bush, wiping away tears.
"It was an honor and privilege to sing at President George H.W. Bush’s funeral this morning," she later tweeted. "He was a great friend and leader and I will never forget the time we shared together."
- Also performing at the service was The Oak Ridge Boys, who sang “Amazing Grace,” a personal request by the late President. “We first sang for him in October of 1983 on the lawn of the White House when he was vice president,” Joe Bonsall shared during the mass. “He said, ’Fellas, would you sing me a few songs? I’m a big fan" He added, “And for decades we have sung for him. And this is a real honor to be here. What a lot of people may not know is he fancied himself to be a good bass singer. He was not."
