The Most Interesting Places In America Over The Last 40 Years

While plenty of us like to visit locations with a lot of historical sites, places don’t necessarily need to be old to be interesting.  Well, in case you missed it, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has just come out with a list of 40 of the most important and interesting American places 40 years old or less, and it may just help you book your next vacation.

The list is made up of places the organization feels make an important contribution in either Arts, Science and Tech, Culture, History, Landscapes and Housing.  Places making the list include:

  • Prince’s Paisley Park, Minneapolis, MN
  • The National Mall, Washington, DC
  • Millennium Park, Chicago, IL
  • Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, Nevada/Arizona
  • The September 11th Memorials in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and the Pentagon Memorial in Virginia
  • Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, MD
  • Gay Liberation Monument, New York, NY
  • Atlantis Condominium, Miami, FL
  • Musicians’ Village, New Orleans, LA
  • Thorncrown Chapel, Eureka Springs, AK
  • Pearl Fryar Topiary Garden, Bishopville, SC
  • Quadracci Pavilion at Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee, WI
