Army Soldier Reunites With Puppy He Rescued In Syria

A puppy from Syria has been reunited with the Army soldier who rescued her while he was deployed there. U.S. Army Specialist Tyler Mosley took in Daisy, a five-month-old German shepherd mix after she was found and brought to the Army compound. They bonded as he fed her Vienna sausages and Spam and the pair became so close, Daisy would cry every time he left her.

Tyler says he named her Daisy because she was “something beautiful out of a bad place,” and once he was back in the U.S., he started working to have her brought here. With the help of the SPCA International, the pup made the trip from Syria to Iraq, where she was treated by a vet, then she went to Germany and on to New York City, and then finally to the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport in Florida, where Tyler was waiting for her.

"She was in a bad place," Tyler says. "I just wanted her to be here so I could give her the love, the life that she wouldn't have had there."
